In the quiet of an undisclosed location, a few mysterious beings are secretly formulating a plan. There is no telling what the effects of their meeting will bring. Those who will execute this plan have been picked and their mission is clear. …
It was early morning when teens from across Mexico and Central America were taken to three separate locales, the exact locations of which are known only by a privileged few. To their surprise they arrived at familiar places, with familiar faces, although they were still unaware of what was to come and why they had been chosen.
No one, except the chosen individuals, along with an incredible force of extraterrestrial beings, will ever really know what took place that morning. The vast effects of this silent, yet deft move are all that is known by those who were not present at this historic event. The effects were heard, seen, and felt across the region; no one was spared the news. Señoritas getting their nails done, strangers in the mall, market contacts, influential businessmen, joggers at the nearby gym, renowned soccer players, and even dentists, heard about it. The news hit the streets like wildfire.
What began with only a select group of young people quickly spread to all those who they knew and came in contact with.
In one Home it was said that a young manager suffered from heart palpitations when filling out the witnessing stats on the Home's TeleTRF. He was diagnosed with what they call the "Activated fever"—for which there is still no cure. In fact, this incurable disease has rapidly spread throughout our region and is highly contagious! The situation was out of hand! What had fired this up?
Something did happen that day, and someone was determined to find out what it was. In order to satiate his curiosity, the indomitable, Detective Ramirez, needed to discover what took place on that peculiar day. He knew this search would not be effortless, but he had seen enough to determine that he would pay whatever price it took to know what was behind this madness. The sleepless nights went on, and still he searched for the answer. Finally, he stumbled on a file that looked like it might be what he was looking for. Some parts were coded, although the parts he could read brought answers to many of his questions.
These elite few were in a race! The file revealed that the competition was for all eligible teens in Mexico and Central America. Points were earned from the amount of Bible classes given or participated in, the amount of subscriptions turned in, as well as the amount of mags distributed. No wonder every "Juan Carlos" in Mexico had heard about Conéctate—the contestants needed to spread the word quickly, as their time was limited.
The race would only last four months and the countdown had begun. They called it the AIP. Detective Ramirez now fully understood what had stimulated their interest. This race was not only taking place here in our salsa-dancing, taco-filled, mariachi-crazed, paradisiacal, and jalapeño-spiced side of the world, but it was taking place all around the world.
The special part was the prize! They were offering unlimited amounts of Mexico's más ricos tacos—just kidding! Although that thought was muy sabroso, to Ramirez's chagrin the prize was not disclosed as the coding on that part of the file was way beyond his capabilities of deciphering.
Over four months Ramirez carefully tracked different sets of contestants as they flooded the city, adapting to their surroundings in a frenzy to accumulate points for that mysterious prize. They flooded office buildings, restaurants, and gas stations in a tireless effort to submerge the world with the Activated message. They sang it. They waved it in the air. One instant they were dressed casually, talking to a teen on the street, the next they were in suits and ties in a plush office.
Their enthusiasm led them everywhere, including the market, where due to their fervor, Activated earned the respect of the local grocers. Impressed by their determination and zeal, Detective Ramirez was hard pressed to keep up with this unstoppable activity. The four months quickly flew by.

Meanwhile, in another top-secret location, a new plan was formulated. As the race was coming to a close, it was apparent that the number of winners was going to be astronomical—it appeared that there would most likely not be one contestant who would not meet the requirements to win the prize. Planning and preparing the reward for the winners would need to be carried out with great precision. The core team knew that this mission was way out of their control. They were seriously in need of some skilled reinforcements. They did all that was possible to recruit 70 skilled, talented, and proficient individuals to help them execute this next plan.
TOP SECRET PLAN
Only to be read by those elect few who will be executing Operation BLAST '05—Battle Lords Attack Satan's Territory.

Your mission: To make BLAST '05 the most unforgettable, extraordinary, and amazing experience of the participants' lives. We need those who are willing to go to any extreme … and that is why we have picked you!
The plan had begun to unfold as the attendees arrived at this breathtaking location. They had only seen a fraction of what was to come, and they had no idea what this "prize" really entailed. There was one attendee, though who was not invited but somehow managed to sneak himself into a tight spot underneath a rather large 16-passenger van. Detective Ramirez desperately hoped that he would not be discovered, for it was this detective's intense desire to find out where these young people were being taken. He longed to discover the mysteries surrounding it.
Squeezing out of his tight hiding spot, he was taken aback in disbelief; the sight before him left him speechless. It was as if some UFO had zapped every attendee and staff member with an empowering, affectionate surge! Euphoric affection filled the scene, as friends were reunited in laughter and hugs.
Meanwhile, the highly skilled staff was as busy as could be, preparing for the upcoming events. As Ramirez snuck around the camp, he suddenly overheard something that was music to his ears:
"Oh, these winners have no idea of all that BLAST entails. It is going to blow their minds!"
All that BLAST entails?! he thought excitedly. He soon discovered that these teens were in for the time of their life. Their mornings began with rock'em, sock'em inspirations led by Mexico's very own Vas, Godfrey, Chris Romanian, Heart (Cherisha), and many more! Then there were classes that stirred their passions to never let the Activated fires die, to never be satisfied until every soul on Earth had been rescued from Satan's domain, and to bond as one, never letting go of the love, camaraderie, and unity they'd gained, to never lose sight of who they are and what they stand to gain through becoming the destined warriors of their time. It was clear to Detective Ramirez that these classes were intended to train expert spiritual warriors to live triumphantly through the dangerous times ahead.
After such intense training, they would be more than ready to play! And play they would, with choices ranging from salsa dance practice and gym workouts, to soccer, volleyball, and basketball tournaments. The sports fun ended with everyone changing into their swimwear and diving in the pool!
To Detective Ramirez's amazement, he discovered what would be taking place at night. Band after band would take the stage, rousing the crowd to mosh, dance, and jump wild and free for hours!

The days flew by and Detective Ramirez wished that time would stand still. No one wanted these days to end. It was already departure day, yet his detective instincts told him that there was indeed more to come. The morning began as all the others had, and then came the announcement:
"The training you have undergone for the last five days has been to prepare you for an awesome and risky adventure. We know you are ready, and so we are going to take you to Cervantino (an artistic and cultural festival that thousands of lost and searching young people from around the world attend), where you will put into action all that you have been trained for.
"We are going there to reclaim souls from the Enemy's grip. We are going to unite as a force to be reckoned with. And we are going to actively use our weapons to defeat and annihilate the Enemy's forces. This is a dangerous task and not for the weak-hearted. We can only take skilled and trained warriors with us.
"Let's blast our spiritual enemies to Hell, and march in to conquer new territory! Are you ready!?"
This announcement got everyone's attention. The cheers were heard for miles, and the extraterrestrial beings sent to Operation BLAST also cheered as they heard the thrilling news.
During the next two days, Ramirez saw an uprising take place. Two hundred young warriors armed with guitars, tracts, and the keys marched fearlessly into Cervantino, capturing one soul after another. Unbeknownst to the teens, Ramirez listened intently to their conversations on their way home from Cervantino.
"Did you hear about that guy who wants to join the Family?"
"Yes! I think he's going to visit the nearby Home."
"Wow! Cool!"
"Hey, how many souls did you win?"
"I won 57. And you?"
"I won 63. And I heard that altogether we won over 2,500!"
Ramirez reflected on his discoveries over the seven days. His next quest was one that he would seek after with ardor: to find a way to be a contestant in the next AIP (even if undercover), for he too had caught the "Activated fever," and he knew this disease was incurable!
Sarah, Mexico: The teens are rocking with subscriptions, so now we're all getting the fever. In two months, our three teens have gotten 19 new subscribers to Conéctate. Not only has it improved our follow-up on friends, and fed their souls, but it has sure provoked our young people to learn to witness more in Spanish.
Anim (YA), Mexico: The most exciting thing that has happened to all of us during the AIP is that we have realized just how important Conéctate is for the spiritual growth of our sheep. It's not only the responsibility of the adults to spiritually feed our friends, but it is ours as well! We've been set on fire and we are excited about activating all of Mexico!
Angie (SGA, of Jonathan), Mexico: Even when the program is over, we're definitely sold on it now and can see the fruits! It's also time to see our teens shine, and they really do! They really have the anointing, and don't give up till they get results!
Tigo, Mexico: When I first heard of the AIP, I must admit that I didn't have full faith that it would work. I was more like, "Lord, I believe. I'm going to do the most I can to get behind this vision, but help Thou my unbelief." Ha!
Now after seeing the stats, and how our teens have changed, it's amazing. The Lord has once again fulfilled what He said would happen! I have watched the AIP transform teens who were uninspired and on their way out of full-time service, into completely changed and on-fire, sold-out witnessers who are going somewhere for the Lord.

From my vantage point atop the railing, I can see the crowds moshing to tunes like, "Possess Me," "Here I Stand," and "Dedicated." Raised hands pounding the rippling air waves interrupt my view. Tightly packed in front of the stage, my peers revel in the spirit and heat that emanates from the music. The walls are damp with condensation.
EuRoCk Fest '05 was four days packed with classes, sports, showers, meals, four-hour long concerts, and glorious noise! There were 276 attendees from all over Europe—170 ranging between 12 and 17, 106 staff, as well as 30+ musicians (the youngest being 13).
Representatives from 21 different countries gathered together in a youth hostel nestled high in the mountains of the Black Forest, Germany. And why am I here, reveling in this celebration of our Family music? Because of Mama … and because of the AIP!
But let me explain. I, fictional Joe (17, of Jerusha and Jerubbabel), hailing from a far corner of Western Europe, will be your guide through the months that preceded EuRoCk Fest '05.
When I first read Mama's letter and the JT board's explanation about the Activated Incentive Program, frankly, I didn't think it would work. I mean, this is Western Europe, 14 different countries stretching across Scandinavia to Iceland way up in the north, to Spain and Portugal in the south. Nine different languages—not all of them having the full translated Activated course available—cultures that varied drastically the minute you crossed a border. It would be a challenge!
As far as I was concerned, Activated was great, but it was a tool for the adults, geared to the people they would witness to. I had never thought of distributing it myself and, honestly, neither had my peers. Though my parents had often encouraged me to try it, I didn't have the vision for it, and my talent for finding excuses sure proved useful.
Besides, this is Europe; there are already so many other magazines on the market, either Christian or of any other belief you can think of. I was afraid ours wouldn't stand out among the thousands.
These mindsets were firmly ingrained. I was all but convinced that it couldn't be done, but it was once said, "Let him that would move the world first move himself." Mama had said it could be done, so hey, I may as well give it a try, no? Besides, they did mention something about prizes.
And somehow, the Lord worked it out.
Our AIP lasted four and a half months, from April 1st till August 15th, 2005, and it was divided into two age categories:
* One for the junior and senior teens, the winner being the one who got the most subscriptions in the timeframe allotted.
* One for the JETTs based on a point system that went as follows:
1 subscription = 50 points
1 soul = 20 points
1 book, DVD, CD, tape, Mottos calendar = 15 points
1 Activated mag = 10 points
1 poster = 2 points
1 tract = 1 point
(Naturally, the winner was the one with the most points.)
The fires of enthusiasm spread, and we started to realize that it wasn't so hard; one just needed a bit of perseverance.
I realized how blessed we were to have the Activated course available in so many different languages, the basic course plus the mag of the month in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian, a year's subscription in French, as well as mags available in Dutch and German.
Each JT board member was given a list of JETTs and teens in their area whom they needed to follow up on. They kept track of our progress, encouraging us, giving us counsel when things seemed a little slow, collecting our stats at the end of each month, etc.
In Spain and Portugal, the national JT board organized witnessing camps for a day or two where they would all hit the streets as a group, doing Holy Ghost samples, witnessing, and getting subscriptions. Though a couple of those who lived in Spain didn't speak Portuguese, when they went witnessing in Portugal they met sheep who conversed in their mother tongue. Many of us who had been rusty with our local language classes took the plunge by faith and immersed ourselves in the cultural experience. It was amazing the way we suddenly remembered words and vocabulary Uncle Philemon had taught us last year, a feat virtually unheard of up until this point.
In May we were in for a surprise to learn that Archangel Michael and the Chiefs had been working overtime to help JT board members keep a clear channel. The result had been a startling revelation: We had our very own European JETT/teen witnessing spirit helper, Marceline, to be with us during the AIP.
The JETT/teen board put up a website where we could download the messages that were sent out answering people's questions about the AIP and announcing the midway winners. See, we were doubly blessed; not only were there to be winners who would receive prizes at the end, but those who had the highest stats at the midway point, June 15th, got a prize as well. They each received a prophecy in the mail along with a Swiss army knife and a SWAT booklet, and had their photos and stats published in the June issue of The Parent Times, a regional mag produced for the parents of JETTs and teens, with portions for the JETTs/teens to read.
One major incentive that kept us going throughout those challenging months was the knowledge that if we got a minimum of one subscription and actively participated in the AIP, we'd get to attend EuRoCk Fest '05, scheduled for October.
August 15th rolled around in a flurry of "S'il-vous plait, auriez-vous une minute. Je participe à un concours…", "Ich möchte gerne an diese Christliche Musikfest teilnehmen…" "Sto partecipando ad un concorso che mi permetterà di essere presente ad un festival di musica rock Cristiana…" (Very loose translation: "I'm participating in a contest…")
The midnight bell tolled, and the AIP ended. We waited with bated breath for the message that would announce the winners. And it came! They were:

And yet the victory wasn't so much in seeing what we and the Lord, along with Marceline and our host of spirit helpers, had achieved, but in realizing that it could be done!—That we could go out and get people to subscribe to Activated, even if we weren't totally fluent in the local language and could only get by with "Jesus loves you." It showed the power of unity with everyone working together, whether it be on the board level—CGO and JT boards uniting behind this push, between JT board members, organizing witnessing outings and keeping in contact with us—or on the Home level, making it possible for us to go out and witness, giving us tips, and then letting us do it.
And that's why I'm here, at EuRoCk Fest '05, along with the rest of my peers who participated in the AIP. We read Mama's message of commendation to us for participating in the AIP, and received our AIP medallions.
To the sounds of "Ease It All," we reminisce on what was, what is, and what will be.—The fires of Revolution have been lit and Activated will sweep the land. I'm just thankful I was able to be swept up with it!
—A spirit helper received for the Western European young people
(Marceline:) I was assigned to help with the JETTs' and teens' witnessing during the Activated Incentive Program. I was specifically assigned to help the [young people] in Western Europe, as this is a tricky field with many different nationalities, cultures, and reactions. It isn't easy to win disciples here, but the ones you do reach are well worth the effort. Originally, I was only assigned for the duration of the AIP; however, after seeing the desperate need for encouragement and ideas that your young ones had, as well as the potential of this field, I have asked to be allowed to remain after the time of my assignment is up.
I am here to give you advice and ideas in your witnessing pushes, whether they be area-wide or localized. I root for you in the heavenly courts. I bring your petitions before others here in Heaven to amass prayer power for you. I accompany you when you go out witnessing, to uphold your spirits, and to infuse you with heavenly ideas. I work closely with your guardian angels to protect you.
I am the overseer for all youth witnessing in Western Europe. There are other spirit helpers assigned to each specific country whom I work closely with as well, as they are under my jurisdiction. You can ask specifically who is assigned to your country, as each [area] is so different. [Each country] needs someone of that nationality who [knows] the country and its culture and thus would be able to help you understand the people you are trying to reach.
I am here at your beck and call, ready to help you when you feel short of ideas or if your inspiration is failing you. Call on me and I will give you the guidance and insight you need to reach the lost ones of this field.
It is Western Europe's time! The people are desperate, the youth are searching. They have been so bogged down with the lies and technology of the Devil. Their minds are confused and muddled with all the philosophies and theories they have been fed through the media and their schooling. They search for simplicity and light—the true light—and they will recognize it when they see the true simplicity of the children of David. (End of excerpts.)
Vida (JT board member): The AIP changed our area and our JETTs and teens. It was amazing what the JETTs and teens accomplished! For the longest time we had the perception that Western Europe was not an easy field when it came to getting Activated subscribers. However, all that changed with the AIP. We've seen such fire and fervor in the young people as a result, which is truly wonderful. They're now leading the way with not only Activated but also with witnessing in general, just like Mama believed they would.
In the beginning some of the JETTs had a hard time even getting out the posters, or praying with people. But by the end of the program, these same JETTs were pushing to get out witnessing, and would boldly approach strangers and witness deeply, pray with them, and would even get them to participate in 12 Foundation Stones classes.
To finish the AIP in our area we held a three-day JT witnessing camp. We went to the center of town with all 40 JETTs and teens and sang, danced, acted out skits, and witnessed. Many people stood around watching and applauding. One lady remarked, "In all my seven years in this town, I've never seen anything like this. These young people are just what this town needs!"
Victoria (FGA): The AIP has helped the JETTs in our Home to be instant witnesses. Sometimes the young people would begin witnessing on the way to their witnessing spot, so as not to lose any time in getting started.—They were so eager to get the job done! Even the shy ones got on fire and witnessed to all who passed their way. When they'd arrive home, they'd faithfully keep stats and share testimonies from the day's witnessing.
One day after witnessing at the beach, we had a picnic and fellowship. Our JETTs went to play soccer with some local kids, and before we knew it, they were all engrossed in a deep witness about the Endtime. It was inspiring to see them taking the initiative.
Sara (SGA): The AIP was something that the teens needed in order to catch the global vision and to reach others together with their friends. They also realized that they have what it takes—the training—to do the job.
JT board member: It was wonderful to see the JETTs and teens getting inspired as the days went by and as they saw that they could really do it. It definitely gave them the faith that they can make a difference. It was beautiful to see them coming home inspired and with testimonies to tell. It also gave us the vision to invest all that we possibly can in training them. Thank you, Mama, for having faith in them. They answered the call and made us proud of them.
A Home with participating young people: The AIP and EuRoCk '05 became a Home goal, and the whole Home got behind it. The result was that everyone was pushing Activated, and the JETTs and teens got out witnessing a lot more. We also found that it's changed the focus of the conversations with other Homes; the topic for discussion was focused on who had gotten out the most magazines, who had the most subscriptions, etc., which was encouraging to see.
Q: How did this program change your life?
A: Steven (15), UK: Besides giving me the vision for Activated, it has helped me realize what my job as a disciple is supposed to be.
Sarah (16), UK: The AIP changed my perspective on witnessing—from boring to fun and challenging.
Q: How would you describe the AIP vision?
A: Claire (17), UK: A very good way of getting young people on the ball about what we're supposed to be doing.
Steven (15), UK: Inspiring! It helps one realize the importance of the Activated mags, and creates a renewed vision in us young people.
Q: Are there any special words you want to say to Mama about the AIP?
A: Claire (17), UK: I'm very thankful for the AIP, as it changed a lot of things in my life. I'm very thankful for those who took the time to arrange it and make sure that it went in the right direction.
Steven (15), UK: The AIP was a real inspiration. It was one of the things that saved my discipleship. I'm really thankful that it came in time for me. We (the young people) have probably reached more people with Activated during this push than ever before.
JT, Europe: When this program first started I thought that people wouldn't be interested in a magazine because there are so many other magazines around, and different people promoting them. I was also worried that I wouldn't know how to present it properly, since I didn't know the content so well. This pushed me to read Activated, because to be honest I wasn't familiar with it. I found that I had to be sold on it!
JT, Europe: Even though I couldn't speak the local language, the Lord led me to English speakers who were very interested in Activated. It showed me that if we go out by faith, the Lord always comes through for us.
JT, Europe: This program was very fruitful, and it gave us the vision to reach people in a different way. It gave us the vision for follow-up and establishing a long-lasting work, instead of just sowing the seed and not reaping the full harvest.
JT, Europe: The AIP helped us to rely on key-powered prayers. It was very exciting to pray and see the Lord come through every single time.

Our area held three variants of the AIP program simultaneously. The Philippines JT board launched the AIP for the teens, as well as an Activated-based WIP (Witnessing Incentive Program) for their JETTs and newly turned junior teens, while Indonesia, Thailand, and Indochina launched the WIP.
As most of the countries in SEA are non-English speaking and non-Christian fields, they are unable to offer the full Activated program to their sheep (although some mags have been translated into local languages), which is why the incentive program for their fields focused on witnessing wherever Activated wasn't available. The Philippines, however, used Activated for both their AIP and WIP.

—Southeast Asia's WIP
Within the Thailand/Indochina and Indonesian national areas, we needed to find a way to capture the spirit of the AIP vision even though we wouldn't use Activated subscriptions as a main focus, due to language and religious differences.
And so the WIP was born—a four-month witnessing venture, designed and destined to whip the Enemy's butt!—And what a lickin' he and his minions got from our JETTs and teens! Fear was definitely in the eye of the Ol' Boy, as they wreaked key-powered havoc on the Enemy's territory, recapturing almost 3,000 lost souls from his clutches!
A point system was used to keep track of stats—and these guys definitely had to use the dual-turbo approach, as they didn't get points for getting tools out one at a time. In the poster and tract categories, one point was given per 20 posters or 20 tracts distributed (but no mass witnessing). A point was given for every two souls won. Points were also given for Activated and Motivated mags distributed, follow-up, mail ministry, and leading Bible classes.
To encourage use of the local language, double points were given to those who distributed tools, gave Bible studies, or wrote letters to or followed up on their sheep in the language of the country they were in. This helped the teens to work on learning the local languages—a must for a deeper witness. There was a mid-term prize given to the three JETTs and teens with the highest points, as well as to the Home with the highest average score, and a final grand prize given for the same categories.
Stats sheets were sent to the JT board on a bi-monthly basis, and converted into scorecards that were sent to the JETTs and teens on a monthly basis. Scorecards became synonymous with suspense, godly competition, praise, and joyful noise as point averages began to rise to a three- and then a four-digit number. Kudos to the rip-roarin', Hell's-gates-crashin' JETTs and teens!
For a lot of the JETTs and teens, especially in Thailand and Indonesia, overcoming the language barrier was a biggie! Some spoke the local language well, but were rusty when using it in witnessing, and had to brush up on terms and phrases. Others found themselves quickly propelled into the vast and desperate need to learn the local language, and made immense progress in a short time—a big thumbs-up to you!
Since using the local language was a major focus throughout the WIP, we were very happy when the regional PR board offered a prize to the two teens who were the most conversant in the local language. Unaware of the prize potentially awaiting them, the unsuspecting JETTs/teens were individually "interrogated" by one of the nationals. The winners were chosen for their ability to understand, to respond rapidly, and for overall confidence in speaking the local language.
Natalie (17), Thailand: The AIP was a brilliant idea—all the Family teens around the world unitedly working and witnessing together. Just the feeling of knowing you weren't alone in stepping out was very encouraging and inspiring.
Leila (15), Thailand: The WIP enabled me to get out more and to practice speaking the local language. It gave me more of the vision of what witnessing is really all about and made me want to do it more. This program has given me a greater love for the lost and has shown me the need to not only get out the tools, but also to feed the people spiritually and to bring them closer to the Lord.
Leah (13), Cambodia: The WIP was a wonderful program! It enabled me to get out of myself and to think about the needs of the sheep. I won a whole lot of souls that I otherwise probably would not have met. Thank you, Mama, so much for praying down the idea from Heaven, and sending us all those neat prophecies. It was just the thing I needed, plus it was great in unifying our Home.
Priscilla (17), Thailand: With this program, I felt united with all of the other young people all over the globe. It was cool that lots of young people, all motivated by the same vision (witnessing and soul-winning), were out doing the same thing around the same time.
Paul (16), Thailand: The WIP made me want to become more familiar with the witnessing spirit helpers so I know whom to call on for help.
Samuel (17), Thailand: The AIP made it all the more relevant to me that people need Jesus and our tools. This experience showed me that if I love Jesus, and He loves me, well, He also loves them; and for certain ones I am the only tool Jesus can use to bring them salvation. If I don't witness to them then, it'll be a tremendous setback to His plan for their lives.
Chai (16), Thailand: Mama, through this program you got me hooked on witnessing, and I pray that the fire of Jesus' Spirit will never again die within me. From now on until the time He calls me home, I want to continue to do my best to spread our message and to let the truth be known. I love you so much!
Tina (15), Thailand: Throughout this program something that motivated me was the thought that, If I don't lead this person to Heaven, who will? He/she could die tomorrow without knowing where he/she was going. Also, when I felt shy or dumb about approaching someone, I would think, This person is going to be so thankful one day when he or she is in Heaven for what I'm giving him or her. That helped me realize what a great treasure we have in eternal life.

The AIP challenge was met head-on;
The un-activated sheep were found.
With Activated for their ammo,

There were prizes offered along the way:
Midterm, Home, Final; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
"Top activator" title was a monthly quest.

To answer the cry: "Activate the world!"

The PI is an ideal field for Activated, since it's a nominally Christian country, and the majority of those we focus on reaching speak English, so we were able to present Activated here. One obstacle, however, is the copious quantities of lukewarm, preachy, church-based publications that are rife in this country. A big challenge for the JETTs and teens was learning to present the Activated magazine in a way that would convince people of its infinitely superior spiritual value and uniqueness. They rose supremely to the task and were floored by the amazing results!
Esther (15), PI: At the beginning of the AIP, I must confess I wasn't sure if we would get anything out. But once we started our "Activated adventure" it was one miracle after the other. First, one person got activated, then two, and then three! Before I knew it I had seven subscriptions out that day.
Sophie (16), PI: Throughout this program I found it essential to have faith enough to give it a try, and to trust the Lord with my ability to present Activated. I had to be willing to give the Lord the glory for whatever miracles He did—I know it wasn't me who got people to sign up; it had to be the Lord! Also, loving people enough to give them a chance—when I offered Activated to someone, I could see how much it would help them personally. That gave me the conviction to offer it to them with my whole heart, not just so I could get good stats, but to help better their life.
James (14), PI: It took a lot of sacrifice for me (and usually my partner, too), as sometimes I would go out on weekends even though it was a free day to get a couple more subscriptions. Without my parents, who were my main source of motivation, I don't think I would have ever made it as far as I did.
Melissa (17), PI: One thing I learned was to just be myself when out there presenting the magazine. I'm not exactly a great salesperson, so there was no sense in pretending that I was. When presenting the mag, I explained it to them and let the Lord do the rest. On one occasion we were having a bit of a slow day, so we stopped and claimed some key promises and that we'd get six subscriptions before the day was up. At the end of the day, we'd totaled exactly six subscriptions!

"I'm just a child in your arms…" The crystals on the chandelier reverberated. A heavy techno beat shook the room, accompanied by the stomp of 20+ pairs of feet, as the dancers sashayed around the large room, their bodies gyrating to match the rhythmic thumping of the blaring music. The lights flickering and slowly fading out.
Young Person X (name withheld for security reasons) rubbed his eyes disconcertedly and groaned in disappointment as he took in his hideout surroundings: the paper-thin, torn mattress under him, the cold outline of the rusting steel bars, and the ever-present high-pitched strains of local music emerging from the neighbors.
Only a dream, he sighed to himself, rolling onto his back and attempting to coax a bit more cushion from his lumpy pillow. Wait! he nearly shouted aloud, it wasn't a dream. Couldn't have been. His hand closed around the small, diamond-shaped medallion resting safely on his chest beneath his tattered clothes, and his eyes closed as he allowed his fingers to roam over the engraved pattern he had memorized in his mind. The letters "AIP" greeted his searching fingers. Slowly, he flipped it over and followed the sword from the top of the pyramid-shaped city, all the way down to its carved hilt resting on an open Bible, feeling for those precious words, his motto, his lifeblood, his destiny—activate the world!
The images from the dream were still deeply embedded in his mind, as real to him as the irritating vocalizations of his only companions—the mosquitoes that unceasingly zoomed around his head. The dancing, the united cries of Revolution, the soul-stirring Word classes, the whoops of applause as the two top winners rose to accept their prize.
That was Chai (16) and Leah (13), he recalled. Man, but did they subdue kingdoms, work righteousness, obtain the promise—yes, indeed the grand prize of MP3 players! Stop the mouths of lions … of course, that was while witnessing at the zoo. They were, like, neck-and-neck throughout the whole program. Leah won the midterm prize, and Chai won the final with a total score of 1,280 points, with Leah taking second place with 1,240 points! Cool!
Oh yes, Pornapa (14) and Kwan (12) won the Home Prize, with an average of 941.3 points each. How many points did I get? Anyway, I can't remember, but it sure was a blast!—And the silver medallions were handed out as we read that special message from Mama and our Challenger!
His hand once more fingered the cold silver of his now well-worn medal, the only link he had to a world that had once seemed so commonplace. Somehow, despite the humidity and midnight darkness of his silent room, those memories seemed so close, as if they had just happened yesterday.
There had been a lot of dancing. Somehow that seemed to have made the biggest dent on his rather impressionable 15-year-old mind. That was followed by the clap-till-your-hands-ached inspiration, then the I-can-boogie-faster-than-you dancing as teens from the various Homes attempted to out-inspire each other, competing for the "Inspirationalist of the Year" title in their team presentations.
And then, just when knees were turning to Jell-O, along came the evening's two-hour grand finale dance, when nonstop techno and R&G played. And the DJ's (thanks, Peter [SGA]) hilarious dance ideas had everybody in stitches. There had been other competitions too, witnessing testimonies, an impromptu local language test, games, awards, and lots of food.
Even now his stomach rumbled as visions of cake, chocolate-covered brownies, raisin cookies, and spicy fried rice melted tantalizingly into the blackness of his cell. Closing his eyes, he resolutely shook his head to banish such mouth-watering thoughts of past delights that had vanished from his menu, only to be replaced by pumpkin peel soup and shredded-pork-flavored rice porridge.
There were other memories too—memories of those deeper experiences that everyone needs from time to time to reaffirm their vision and commitment to discipleship and to revitalize their spirit. Quotes on soul-winning and promises for the future were read that day, reinforced by scattered scenes from various movies, The Passion of the Christ, The Last Samurai, and A Knight's Tale. There was a skit too, that brought a smile to his face as he recalled the highly original adventures of two ganglords in their quest to fight against the keys in a thrilling game of "Takin' the Bacon." ("Bacon" was finally revealed to be a searching lost soul whose destiny was in the throes of uncertainty, as the two spiritual warlords fought for a decision, until "taken" by a soul-winning JT.)
There was the certificate of participation that each JETT and teen received, and the yokes, designed and crafted by each attendee to signify their acceptance of their personal yoke of discipleship and the call to preach the Gospel to every creature. That was certainly a day worth remembering!—But what was even more outstanding was the amazing fact that 2,665 souls had been saved, and 29,014 posters and 12,215 tracts had been distributed during the WIP.
I remember hearing that the JETTs and teens in the PI had enjoyed a cruise, united activities, bowling, and special meals as part of their celebration. They'd gotten a total of 444 Activated subscriptions!—And by only ten teens and four JETTs, with Sophie (16), James (14), Guita (14), and Pearl (12) taking the lead! Completely remarkable!
X smiled a little wistfully and let his eyes wander past the dusty cobwebs and the hideout's narrow confines far, far up into the boundless sky and the mind-bending stretches of eternity. Was it really only several years ago that he was turning in his weekly stats and stuttering his way through the salvation prayer at the local university? Those days seemed an eternity away compared to the heart-stopping pace things were going now—the persecution and attacks of the frustrated AC forces as they were thwarted by the keys and new weapons, the thrilling miracles, the multitudes of hungry sheep. It was almost complete, the Operation that had begun in this revolutionary era to save mankind and to pave the way for Heaven's Army to obliterate the forces of darkness.
Just a few more years, or maybe even less, he thought. But tomorrow's another day. I'll do what I can to activate the world!

The musty air reeks as the unsightly assembly of grimy imps raucously discusses their next strategy. "These Family young people must be vanquished now," declares the bulkiest and smelliest of them all, "What if they discover their potential? Our cause will be lost!'"
Suddenly, a small tremor is felt, followed by another more forceful one accompanied by a loud roar. A hush comes over the rowdy bunch. Louder and stronger the quake grows, until a deafening cry causes the gates of Hell itself to come crashing down, revealing none other than the JETTs and teens themselves, armed to the teeth and slashing at demons while at the same time setting the captives free.
The world would never be the same!
The kick-off
The Commander in Chief's call in "Mama's Letter to the JETTs and Teens" was clear. But how to do it? Little question marks could be seen floating over many a teen's head. It had never been done before and they were being called to "just do it!"
Slowly but surely each mind was conditioned to the idea of the WHAM so that they could all celebrate at the BAM. "Translation please?!" WHAM equals the Winning Homes Activated Match. BAM stands for Brazil (teen) Activated Meetings, which were held at the end of the WHAM (a.k.a., AIP).
Power-infusing band music, pep talks, lively discussions, interviews, rolling-on-the-floor theatrics, and a prayed-down flare-up of Holy Spirit anointing followed. Mama knew these young people could do it, and the broad excited smiles on the board members' faces emanated faith that they were indeed the hope of the future waiting to explode into the Activated revolution here in Brazil.
Everyone, JETTs to seniors, donned their newly acquired AIP patented polo shirts and set off to the tussle. Their selfless compulsion to reach the world, coupled with the promised monthly winners' prizes to be presented at their very own end of the AIP celebration camp, was enough to set them off like rockets.
Behind the scenes feverish typing could be heard as the nitty-gritty of the program's point system was being figured, discussed, prayed about, configured, re-discussed, and re-prayed about—ad infinitum.
The gist to winning was: Work together as a team with those of the same age group in your Home. Team effort was tops on the priority list. That was the only way you could join in the WHAM and accumulate points towards winning. All of the points acquired by a given age group within a Home were averaged by the number of participants in that age range. Each age group worked in teams, and raced for the prize as a team. For example, if three subscriptions were distributed by one of the senior teens on the team which amounted to 150 points, these points were divided by the number of seniors on the team. For each of the five months of the AIP there were three winning teams: A senior team, a junior team, and a JETT team. All participants raced against those in the other Homes within their respective age group. It was as if there were three WHAMs going simultaneously, as each age group competed independently from the others. There was also a qualifying round in order to participate in the WHAM.

To win, each age group team needed to get as many points (which were added up every month) as they possibly could.
Here's how the point system worked:
JETTs and junior teens:
1 year subscription = 50 points
Activated magazine = 1 point
Senior teens:
1 year subscription = 50 points
Activated magazine sold = 1 point
*Class given (to a new subscriber) = 10 points
(The JT board chose to give the senior teens points for every class given to new subscribers, thus motivating them to take the new sheep to the next level.)
At the end of each month, the team that won the most points that month had their points zeroed, which placed them at the tail end of the race again. The other teams got to carry their points through to the next month, giving them a chance to win first place the next time around. We figured that only an Activated "Dash Incredible" could be capable of winning a second time with such a system, but lo and behold, Kevin (JETT) proved us wrong and took the prize in two consecutive months. He got out 60 subscriptions in one month!
There was a monthly prize each month for the winner of each of the three age categories. When an age group within the Home won in a given month, each JETT or teen in the Home within that age group received an individual prize that was presented to them at the BAM.
The explosion
May 15th rolled around while the vision was yet fresh in these young pioneers' hearts. They hit the ground running with the grand total of 394 subscriptions in the first month alone! The Activated stats were skyrocketing! They were doing it and now felt the thrilling sensation of the "God factor" at work in varied (and sometimes amusing) ways. The life of faith took on a whole new meaning as they defeated their initial hesitation and went out there to experience it firsthand.
It didn't matter if they were shy or bold, the Holy Spirit's anointing took full possession of each one, giving them the words to say, the jokes to make, the smiles to display—and the result? Many, and I mean many, subscriptions! It goes without saying that there were also a myriad of souls won, causing no small stir (and absolutely no half-hours of silence) in the heavenlies by reason of the loud whoops and appraise ringing out just about every split second.
Brazil's monthly AIP bulletins were sent out after the stats of the month were tallied. Featured in its colorful pages was a potpourri of prize winners' proclamations, cool tips for hot activating, pertinent pictures, stats, testimonies, morale boosters, Q&As, announcements, sound bites, and more.
In the duration of the program, another powerful tool was presented to the teens: a PR brochure especially made for the AIP. This brochure explained the Family International's work from a teenager's standpoint, showing pictures of what a Family teen spends their days doing, and ending with a plug for help through subscribing to Contato or donating towards the teenagers' BAM tuition fee. This helped the fundraising for the final cataclysmic event and added an extra dose of credibility when presenting the program.
With the last month coming to a close, our JETT/teen secretary nervously tapped her fingers on the desk as the last of the subscriptions came in, 1,688 … 1,689 … 1,690 … 1,691 subscriptions! Hip, hip, hooray! By the end of the five months, all the prize winners along with their 200+ fellow champions eagerly awaited the earthly fraction of their promised reward … and they were not going to be disappointed!

A total of over 300 attendees from every corner of the country were present. Location: A fabulous mountain getaway an hour outside Rio de Janeiro, nestled in a lovely mountain setting at the sprawling resort Miguel Pereira. In attendance: 62 JETTs, 65 junior teens, 79 senior teens—plus the board members, monitors, and staff. In a meeting held the day before, the Lord had punched through with the message that this was an event the host of Heaven wouldn't dare miss. Former earthlings from times past and angels of all kinds were itching to participate in this thrilling explosion and promised to leave little air-space for anything else.
Upon arrival the JETTs and teens were routed to their rooms, assigned monitors, and then our opening-night orientation took place. Our two bands from Rio and São Paulo inaugurated this retreat with rip-roaring inspirational songs. The air was positively electric as 300 voices were raised in song and praise. Spirits high and pulses racing, the retreat was just beginning.
The first event of the day was the Award Ceremony where all of the JETTs, junior and senior teens received recognition for their initiative and faithfulness in completing the AIP. A whopping 1,691 subscriptions were collected by the young people. Each individual received a diploma and a beautiful silver AIP pendant. Meekness (NBC) then read aloud an inspiring message from Mama to all JETTs and teens.
Over 20 brand-new MP3 players were awarded to the top shiners, in addition to a prophecy received for each one.
That afternoon, Matt (Brazil Activated desk) gave a motivational talk sharing statistics via PowerPoint and emphasizing the huge impact the young people had in Brazil as well as the difference it made for the desk. A special plaque of recognition was awarded to Brazil's top shiner Homes. Susana (RBC) and Clara (NBC) from the FED board covered different aspects of Family education. They introduced presenting homeschooling to outsiders, and how to earn credits with CVA. The FED also had a desk manned during the BAM, available to assist interested individuals with their educational needs.
Later that evening we held the talent night! It was hosted by Tiago and Gigi, who kept things hopping. What a wide assortment of astounding new talent! Witnessing and Loving Jesus were the themes for the night, and each show was met with applause, cheers, and appreciation. The attendees had been informed at the AIP kickoff that they were to prepare special presentations/talents for the night. Now, these weren't to be the ordinary talents (whatever that might mean to you); instead the attendees were to pool their witnessing-related resources and come up with a performance that they or others could use in witnessing. On top of it, each performance was to be done in the local language, Portuguese. And perform they did! New songs were brewed, old ones were translated, poems, puppet shows, pantomimes, and unique band presentations were prepared for the talent night!
Word classes were held each day of the BAM. They were led by Phil, Sam, Meekness, Tiago, Tod, and Christopher, with the theme being discipleship. Each class was peppered with skits, video footage and PowerPoint presentations that helped to bring to life their calling as disciples. The launching of the DTP* in 2006 and what that entails for our young people was the subject of the afternoon. (*The Discipleship Training Program is a program for preparation and training of 17-year-olds before signing the "Family Discipleship Contract.")
We had a wide variety of recreational facilities available at the resort: soccer, basketball, tennis, badminton, your choice of indoor or outdoor swimming pool, archery, ping pong, billiards, air hockey, foosball, bowling, and sauna. We even had organized tournaments on the second day, coached and refereed by our dear coordinators.
At the last day, the attendees took group photos, after which we enjoyed a rousing dedication inspiration led by both São Paulo and Rio bands. God bless our musicians, who had themed inspirations prepared for each day of the retreat. The live music was a definite highlight of the BAM! It was an incredible rush to experience the Lord's Spirit through our powerful and stirring songs!
Afterwards each person was anointed during prayer and a prophecy reading. For this particular ceremony, the Lord showed us to use ashes instead of the traditional oil, for it to be symbolic of receiving the anointing for our Endtime commission. This sobering meeting was a very heart-touching time. Many were moved to tears as we rededicated ourselves to the Lord and to our calling as Endtime disciples.
To top it all off, no one would go home on an empty stomach. A Brazilian churrasco (barbecue) awaited everyone. Yummy!
As goodbyes were said, we thanked the Lord for these wonderful days of Heaven. Our hats go off to our dear national and regional JT boards and Family staff who worked tirelessly to pull off this event. They were the first ones up in the morning and the last ones to bed! They worked through the numerous details of planning, organization, and preparation, all of which made this event a memorable experience. We sang, we danced, we laughed, we cried, we listened, we learned, and we will take it all home with us.
So closed Brazil's AIP, but I've heard it said that this will not be the end. You can hear it as the cry of a thousand voices echoing in the silence of our hearts. "Let the fire never die! Let it burn till no one nor nothing can dare prevail against the inferno, the final fulfillment, the climax of God's children, the promised ones, the hope of the future. Let the world watch and wonder at these little ones who waxed strong, who took the stand, who will never, ever let go."

A. (14): The AIP has brought me closer to Jesus, because without Him, I am nothing. I am sold on Him. Hopefully I will be able to do my part to rock the world; it is the least I can do for Him!
Mariane (16): I may not be an Activated shiner, but with the AIP I finally learned to get off my rear and get out witnessing!
Abrahim (18): The AIP helped me get together with the teens in my Home and plan new ways to put this vision into action. I can truly say that it has changed my old ways of thinking, and best of all, the AIP has changed me!
A. (17): It was cool to see how everything the Lord says and promises always comes true. Even if I thought it was crazy, if He asked and I obeyed, He always did the miracles. I overcame my fear of approaching people with Activated, I'm seeing close-up miracles, reactions, and changed lives, and I'm finding that everything I read in the GNs, and all the emphasis put on this program, makes all the sense in the world. I'm loving it!
I. (JETT): This program helped me find that what looked impossible is possible. It made me a stronger disciple and a better winner and Endtime fighter!
A. (16): I see the Activated magazine from a new angle now. Since the AIP started I have read the magazine more frequently and it has helped me to understand the influence it has on people's lives. I hope this incentive continues after the program ends!
N. (16): Through this program I have learned persistence (because most things in life don't come on a silver platter); to intercede in prayer, and I saw the miracles it brought about; to step out by faith on my own; and most of all, to trust the Lord and let Him do the part we can't do.
When I stepped out blindly on the water, sure enough, it was firm. Now, with each step forward, the sky is starting to look attainable.
B. (17): The AIP has shown me the benefits of perseverance and persistence, that if we really follow what the Lord has said, we will be winners. Yet, to be a winner we can't only wish and dream about how beautiful it could be, but we need to fight and work for that dream to become a reality. That's the only way to win! I know this program will be over soon, but the results and the hearts and souls won to the Lord will last forever! The lessons I have learned through this program are not restricted to the AIP, but they are victories that will forever help me in my life.

(Jesus:) My dear ones, I give you this pendant as a reminder of My commission to you. You have proven your loyalty and service to Me by taking part in this daring and challenging commission that I gave you through your queen Maria. You, as brave soldiers, took up this challenge and gave it your all. You are worthy to wear this pendant proudly and display it before all. It's both a reward and a mark that I have given to all of My JETTs and teens around the world. It's a symbol that I am uniting you as one. For all of you are one body, one army, and one Family.
As you hold this pendant in your hands, I want you to remember three things:
1) The ability and power you possess to bring lost souls into the Kingdom. With the AIP you have seen the miracles of changed hearts firsthand, and this has given you the faith to go boldly where you have not gone before.
2) The love and brotherhood that I have blessed all of you with in this Family. For with this initiative, you have been united in spirit and have been brought together with one purpose—to fulfill your calling.
3) I want you to remember your commission as My followers, that of reaching the lost with My Words. I have put the keys into your hands. They give you power to bring My message to the hearts of every man, woman, and child who are destined to hear it, and I want you to remember this always. It's your primary job!
I also have this one request to ask of you, that if you love Me, continue to feed My sheep. You are all My leaders of the End, commissioned to go out and save those who will accept the truth. Time is short! And I have ordained you to go and reap a great and mighty harvest. This isn't the end, it's only the beginning.
When you receive this pendant, you are receiving a symbol of My great love and faith in each one of you. I am in essence saying that you, too, are a part of a powerful spiritual army that will save yet many more souls to My Kingdom. You passed your AIP commission bravely and wonderfully, but there is more to come. Be steadfast in the faith and always ready to go out to battle to loose the hold the Enemy has on the souls of men and claim them for My Kingdom. There is more to come, My brave ones, there is more to come! I love you always!
