LOOK AROUND

Songbook: Best Friends
KeyWords: Supply,
I was eleven years old and had a freckly face.
I thought my nose was kind of long and I was overweight.
My clothes were kind of dumpy and my hair was thin,
And I thought I didn't have a friend.
There was a party at my school and I decided to go,
But I was feeling pretty sad as I got into my clothes.
I finally told my Mama, "I feel so left out,
And with the other kids, I feel they shut me out,
And all the words I want to say, I can't get out!
Oh, what am I supposed to do?" And Mama said,
Chorus 1
"Look around [look around], and you will see
Someone who's feeling like you do,
So lonely and shy.
Find who needs you, and then go and join them.
Be friendly and greet them, and show them you care."
Look around!
So at the party I was looking and I saw in the back,
In a chair was Rosalinda with her hands in her lap.
Her hair was kinda stringy and she had buckteeth,
But I knew that she was really sweet.
But if I talk to Rosalinda what will other kids do?
Will they think I'm really dumb, or will they call me a fool?
For a little while I was so confused;
Here was a decision and I had to choose:
-Would I make a friend, or stay in solitude?
Oh, what was I supposed to do? 'Cause Mama said,
[Repeat Chorus 1]
So I decided to do what I knew to be right.
I went to talk to Rosalinda, and we had a good time.
When I looked around to see if others stared,
No one seemed to be aware.
I want to tell you that I'm happy now that I found out,
There are kids who really like me for the things that count.
What I've got inside is what will make a friend:
Love and understanding and a hand to lend.
That's the kind of friend on which you can depend.
I know what I'm supposed to do. Remember to
Chorus 2
Look around [look a round],
And I will see someone who's feeling like I do,
So lonely and shy.
Find who needs me and then go and join them,
Be friendly and greet them and show them I care.
Remember to look around
Look around!
