WHAT IF YOU JUST HAD YOURSELF
Author(s): Singing Sam
Songbook: Aaron David Songbook
KeyWords: Giving,
What if you just had yourself and no one else?
Wouldn't you be feelin' kinda bad?
It gets pretty lonely
After your friends have left.
And you see that they're all that you had.
Emptiness tries to surround you
And makes you want to cry.
It's just something that confounds you
And you feel like you could die.
There just must be some way
To find someone to love.
I can't seem to find them here,
So I'll start lookin' up above.
I'm tired of lookin' for the truth
In a pile of lies.
I guess I'll just look somewhere else.
I'm fed up with giving phony alibis.
I just want to get out of myself.
Where can I find the track
That'll lead me the right way?
I just want to get my head in a good place
And let it stay.
But somethin' tells me
That there's more than just right now.
I've seen life come and go,
But I can't quite figure out how.
I heard some people talkin'
'Bout Jesus Christ.
They said He'd give me peace of mind.
I never tried him but that sounds real nice.
I just hope that's not another line.
So I asked him in
And I'm not lonely anymore.
Now I've got the kind of friends
That I've never had before.
I can't explain it 'cause it
Blows my finite mind.
All I know is now I see
When I once was lost and blind.
You know these same people
Showed me a way of life,
And turned me on to reality,
Where there's no such thing
As evil, hate, or strife.
And now I'm happy as I can be.
I just wish that you could see
I'm never gonna die.
If you want to see some real true love
Then open your eyes.
I live with people
That are one hundred percent free.
And we're gonna be that way
For all eternity.
