Winning Words!--Valuable information on love, faith & prayer that can make your life more meaningful.
(Musical interlude)
It's never too late for love! The simple love of God & each other can solve all of our problems. His love is the answer to everything. It saves souls, forgives sins, satisfies hearts, purifies minds, redeems bodies, wins friends & makes life worth living. It can survive every difficulty, difference, weakness, shortcoming, failure, fault, sin or obstacle. It's the only truth, the only way & the only peace! Love even has creative power because God is love & He is the Creator. His love can change wrecks of lives into wonderful, productive, happy, warm, glowing sons & daughters of God. It can do anything! Nothing can resist the power of love, whatever it touches it changes!--It changes everything! It's so beautiful, there's just nothing like it! It can change everything, heal every disease, cleanse every stain. It's all-powerful! Love knows no hours nor days, love is always. For love is God & God is always. It's like a stream, a river that just keeps flowing no matter what because of the Dew of Heaven--Jesus!
"Ah, Love, I found You at last.
In my heart is a song.
I dreamed of Love in the past,
I have waited for You so long.
Ah, Love Everlasting, at last I have found Thee!"
(Musical interlude)
God is a Spirit, God is the Spirit of Love. He's the Great Spirit, the Creator. He's not some old bearded gentleman way off somewhere or some kind of ferocious monster that you can't understand, but He is the genuine basic power, the guiding Light of the Universe, the all-powerful, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent Spirit that pervades all things. He is everything & everything is God, in a sense. God dwells in life, He dwells more in one little sparrow than He does in a World full of buildings & monuments dedicated to Him, "for the Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands." He said that even the Heaven of Heavens cannot contain Him. Nevertheless, the High & Holy One dwells in the heart of the meek & the lowly. He will live within your own heart if you ask Him to be there. He's everywhere in love. He is the very Spirit of Love in your heart. He's inside of you, so close. His Love is there wherever you are whenever you ask for it. As King David so beautifully expressed in the Psalms, "If I'm up in Heaven, Thou art There. If I descend into the depths of Hell, Thou art there. Wherever I am, Thou art with me. I can never depart from Thy Spirit."
(Musical interlude)
You must learn to live in the Lord's strength. You cannot live in your own. If you try to do the Master's work without the Master's power, you're tackling an impossible job. You cannot strive & wrest in your strength, you must look to the Lord in very earnest prayer for the strength & the spirit & inspiration to help you through, or you're apt to wear yourself out! It's like the story of the small boy who was trying very hard to lift a heavy object when his father came into the room & asked him, "Are you using all your strength?"
"Yes, of course I am!" the boy impatiently exclaimed.
"No, you're not," the father answered. "You haven't asked me to help you."
Even a little help from Jesus is a bigger help than everybody else can give you. A little help from the Lord is the biggest help you can get, & that's all the help we need is just a little help from Jesus. Just a little help from Jesus will make it right, all right. Without Him, you're nothing!--But with Him, you're everything! Give me a task too big, too hard for human hands. Then shall I come at length to lean on Thee, & leaning find my strength.
(Musical interlude)
It's wonderful to hear straight from the Lord yourself. God expects His children, those who know Him personally & know His Will & His Word, to touch Him personally, directly, & make a direct contact with Him, not through somebody else's faith or prayers. And that's why the most important thing that any Christian can learn, & each new Christian has to learn it himself, is how to follow God & hear from Him fresh every day. You can hear from God every day, & you should be hearing from Him every day. It doesn't have to be out loud, it doesn't have to be with an audible voice. It can just be in that small voice that you feel inside of you. Sometimes it's not even words, just an impression that you have. God doesn't have to communicate in words, He can just give you a feeling or a picture or an idea. If you really believe & ask the Lord & you want to hear or see, you won't be disappointed. And that which you see or hear with the ears or eyes of your spirit, that's the Lord. It will be such a comfort to you. If you really want to hear Him, He'll talk to you. You just have to have faith. Jesus speaks any time, anywhere, if you believe, any time you believe.
(Musical interlude)
"Except ye become as a little child, ye shall in no wise enter into the Kingdom of God." It pays to be a little child. In fact, Jesus Himself said, "Suffer the little children to come unto Me, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." We're to be like little children--loving, sweet, simple believers in childlike faith, believing & receiving all that the Lord has for us. Children are samples of the citizenry of Heaven. Like little angels dropped from the sky, they're so fresh from Heaven. They understand & are not the least bit fearful when it comes to the things of the Lord & the Spirit & even spiritual experiences. It is given to children to be rich in faith. Faith just comes natural to them. They are so fresh from Heavenly places that they have faith to believe anything that God says, & with them, nothing is impossible. The problem with many grownups is that they know too much, they've been educated out of their childlike faith. But there are others of trusting, childlike faith who are daily doing things that doubting intellectuals say can't be done. So be like a little child & anything wonderful can happen!
(Musical interlude)
We are citizens of the World by birth, but citizens of Heaven by rebirth. We have in effect renounced our worldly citizenship when we received the King of kings into our hearts. We have become citizens of God's great Heavenly City & members of the Kingdom of God when we become Christians, real Christians, true Christians, disciples of Christ, lovers of God, lovers of Jesus. We're citizens of a new World of love & life & happiness in Jesus forever--the Kingdom of Heaven--the only country that never did a wrong thing or fought a wrong war or persecuted the poor or oppressed the weak or polluted the Earth. Our country is trying to save the World, to stop the wars, to relieve the poor & to feed the hungry, heal the sick & liberate the captives who are bound! We're citizens of the only righteous nation in the Universe, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. That's our country, & Heaven is our Home! Are you a citizen of that City already? Have you received your passport? Are you claiming your citizenship papers as a rightful citizen of that Heavenly City? Your passport is Jesus, & your citizenship papers are the promises of God for your salvation.
(Musical interlude)
Are you on the spot? Turn around & put God on the spot! The Lord loves to precipitate a crisis, & He sometimes even lets things happen to make us pray & believe Him for the answer. He wants us to be specific & take a definite step of faith by making specific requests & expecting specific answers. Specific prayer puts both God & ourselves on the spot, but it is also a sign of our faith which pleases God. But some people are afraid to ask the Lord for definite answers to prayer for fear that they won't get them & then they'll be embarrassed because their prayers weren't answered & that might be a reflection on their spirituality, or even hurt God's reputation. "What if He doesn't answer prayer?! What will people think of our faith & our God?" So they just generalise in order not to be pinned down, in case they don't get an answer. But God loves to be put on the spot, because He knows He'll never fail as long as we meet the conditions, exercise our faith in prayer, & obey His Word. And when He answers, it will be a testimony to His Word & His faithfulness, as well as to our own faith in expecting a specific answer. So tell him exactly what you need or want done, & He won't fail!
(Musical interlude)
Jesus left the Halls of Heaven for our sakes! He renounced His citizenship in Heaven, & though He was rich, for our sakes He became poor, that we through His poverty might become rich. Jesus not only had to come down amongst us, but He had to be one of us, He had to become a member of the human community. He came as a meek & quiet, weak & helpless baby. He not only adapted Himself to our bodily form, but also conformed to the human ways of life. He was human--He got tired, He got hungry, He got weary. He was subject to all these things even as we are, yet without sin, that He might be a good High Priest, have compassion upon us, know how we feel, know when we're footsore & weary, know when we've had enough. God sent Jesus to become a human being in order that He might better reach us with His love & communicate with us on the lowly level of our own human understanding, & have more mercy & patience with us than God Himself. Think of that! The Bible says, "He knoweth our frame, He remembereth that we are dust," having worn that frame Himself, suffering in it & dying in it for our sakes. He came down to our level that He might take us with Him back up to His. What a miracle!--All for our sakes.
(Musical interlude)
With His stripes, we are healed. Our bodies belong to Jesus. Jesus has bought our spirits with His blood & we are saved, but He has also bought our bodies with His sufferings. He died for your salvation, but He suffered for Your healing. His body was broken for you for the healing of your body. There is salvation both for the spirit & for the body. He's already paid for not only your salvation, but He has paid for your healing. He shed His blood for your salvation, & what did He do for your healing? The Bible says, "By His stripes (His wounds), ye are healed." He suffered for your healing. So we claim healing as a part of His atonement, we can claim it as a part of what He paid for. He paid for it, it's yours already for the asking. So if you've been sick & you need healing, ask the Lord to heal you, & take it by faith. It's there for you! God not only can do it but He wants to do it! He's more willing to give than we are to receive. Believe God, He never fails! Hold Him to His Word! He says, "Command ye Me!" Have desperate prayer & expect a miracle! You do your part, & the rest is up to God.
"The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathising Jesus.
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
O hear the voice of Jesus!"
(Musical interlude)
They that believe have entered into rest. If you know that God loves you & cares for you & is going to look after you no matter what happens, you can have peace of mind & you can just rest in the Lord knowing that He's going to take care of everything. But if you're confused & worrying & fretting & fuming, you're not trusting, you don't have the faith you ought to have. The secret of that calm & peace & rest & patience & faith & love, is resting in the Lord, getting calm before the Lord & praising the Lord & seeking the Lord first. Trusting is a picture of complete rest, peace & quiet of mind, heart & spirit. Even though you may be busy & in action, your attitude & spirit can remain calm. Jesus said, "Come unto Me, all ye that labour & are heavy laden & I will give you rest." Help us, Lord, not to be so pressured that we put off our time with Thee. Help us to put Thee first each day, to bask spiritually in Thy sunshine, rest in Thy arms, drink deeply of Thy Word & inhale of Thy Spirit. Hallelujah!
"There is a place of quiet rest
Near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot molest
Near to the heart of God.
O Jesus blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee
Near to the heart of God."
(Musical interlude)
We don't know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. I came to the man at the gate of the year & asked him, "Give me a light that I may see my way!" But he said unto me, "Put your hand into the hand of God, & He shall be more unto thee than a light, & better than a known way." The things we need to know, He tells us, & sometimes the things we want to know, He tells us. But most of the time, He throws a veil over the future so that it is known only to Him, & that really helps to keep us close to the Lord & trusting in Him. He's promised to never leave nor forsake us, "For behold," He says, "I am with you always, even unto the ends of the Earth," & He's given us the torch of His Word to show us where our path is going. We can always throw the light of God's Word on the path ahead, for the Scripture says, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet & a light unto my path." Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand, but I know Who holds tomorrow, & I know Who holds my hand. So if by some still small voice He calls me to paths I don't know, I'll answer with my hand in His, "I'll go where You want me to go."
(Musical interlude)
SIDE TWO
(Musical interlude)
Love, the Lord, the real values in life, how worthless everything else is! You can have your earthly treasure, your silver & your gold, but the Spirit, it's the Spirit that can never yet be sold! Only Jesus can truly satisfy your heart. He is the answer. But as long as you're still looking for things in the World to make you happy & satisfied, you won't find the truth. God's Word warns us to "be not highminded nor trust in uncertain riches." Don't be like the rich man in the Bible who wanted to build bigger barns to increase his goods for himself, not to share with others. His own soul had become barny & materialistic. He was deluded by the deceitfulness of riches. If God blesses you with money, don't trust in money & don't let it fill your head to be highminded, but trust in the living God Who giveth us richly all things to enjoy. May we desire, love & hunger for Thy Spirit & Thy love & Thy simplicity, Lord, & Thy humility--the realities, Lord--not the deceitfulness of riches, but the realities of love & the truth. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. As the old hymn says,
"Give me Jesus, give me Jesus,
You can have all this World,
Give me Jesus!"
(Musical interlude)
Our salvation is only by grace, never by works. We cannot save ourselves by our own works, our own goodness, even our own attempts to keep His laws & love Him. We cannot be good enough, we cannot be perfect enough to earn, merit or deserve the Heavenly perfection of His own Holy salvation by His own grace, love & mercy. It is impossible for anyone to be saved without the miracle-working power of God. Accepting salvation is a work of God's grace, it's free, it can only be received. It's the Gift of God. You can't work for it. You can't earn a gift, or else it wouldn't be a gift. God's Word says, "By grace are ye saved through faith, & that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast." God can't help you save yourself since He does not help those who think they can save themselves, but only those who know they can't. God's idea of goodness is a sinner who knows he needs God & depends on Him for salvation. God's idea of saintliness is not sinless perfection, self-righteousness, it's a sinner saved by grace, a sinner who has no perfection, no righteousness of his own but is totally dependent on the grace & the love & the mercy of God by faith. Those are the only saints there are, there are no others! You haven't got anybody's righteousness except Christ's, & He's the only One that can give it to you.
(Musical interlude)
The Lord really leaves a lot up to us & our concern & prayer. You'd be surprised how much God depends on our prayers, how concerned we are & how interested we are. When we are faced with a needy situation, He wants us to show concern & to pray specifically about it. If we really believe, every prayer is heard & answered. But if we don't pray, it is not done. God can do anything, but He puts the responsibility of prayer on us. The very intensity with which we pray & really mean it or desire it, is reflected in the answer. The recipients of our prayers are not going to receive any more than we send. We have to visualise the people or situations we are praying for & pray with that thought on our heart, asking the Lord specifically for what we want Him to do. And then our prayer will reflect or be answered with the same intensity as it originated. Like a beam of light focused on a mirror, it will bounce back with as much power as it began with. If we only pray with half a heart, we only get half an answer, but if we pray with our whole hearts, we get a wholehearted, strong answer. Are you exercising your prayer power? Heaven will reveal what good we have done or could have done through prayer.
(Musical interlude)
May we always be known by our love. What was Jesus' last message to His disciples at the Last Supper before He was arrested, taken to jail, beaten & killed? "By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another." He talked about love, that love was the most important thing. And the Early Christians turned the World upside-down with the love of God & the love of Jesus Christ. Even their Roman rulers marvelled at the love of the Christians & said, "Behold how these Christians love one another!" The way the Christians lived convinced the Romans that their faith was real, & the Romans wondered what it was. "Who is this Christ & why does He make you so happy? Even though you have nothing, you've got everything! How can I find this kind of happiness that I don't have?" And within 200 years, one out of every 5 people was a professing Christian & the entire, known civilised World had been saturated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Just a little love can go a long way, much further than you would ever have dreamed, if you will just be faithful in your love for the Lord & others, & your faithful witnessing to them of the love of Jesus Christ.
(Musical interlude)
Do you feed your body but starve your soul? You could feed your body & lose your soul, such as the man in the Bible who stuffed his barns full of grain. God said to him, "Thou fool! This night shall thy soul be required of thee, then whose shall all those things be?" Having a full stomach & a full purse & a full head cannot give you a full heart. If you put the desires of the flesh above the needs of your spirit, then you will find that nothing ever satisfies. You'll become as the World-famed poet Lord Byron when he despaired at the height of his fame, "I have drunk of every fount of pleasure & quaffed every cup of fame, yet, alas, I die of thirst!" Just like you have to eat in order to have physical strength, the good wholesome reliable spiritual food of God's Word is essential for your spiritual life & you won't last long without it. You need a good feeding & feasting & drinking of it every day. Though your outward man perisheth, is your inward man still growing, renewed every day with the life-giving flow of His Spirit, with the nourishment of His Words?
(Musical interlude)
The divine, supernatural, miraculous, infinite marvellous love of God is love enough to forgive. God's mercy is endless, from everlasting to everlasting. His love & mercy & forgiveness & salvation never end. He never stops loving us, no matter what we do. He never rejects us nor withdraws His love. He always has hope for us, no matter how far we've strayed. Even in spite of our sins & shortcomings & misdeeds & crimes, whatever they may be, the blood of Jesus covers all our sins--past, present & future. If we will forsake our sin & turn to the Lord, our God shall abundantly pardon. The Bible says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful & just to forgive our sins," no matter what we have done. The only unpardonable sin is a lack of faith in Jesus, or rejection of Him as your Saviour. But most people do not suffer for the unpardonable sin, but rather for pardonable sins from which they fail to repent & ask for forgiveness. We have a God big enough to forgive not only our mistakes but our sins. He always has & always does & always will, for ever & ever & ever.--Like a stream, like a river, His love & mercy just keep flowing, no matter what.
(Musical interlude)
Be like Jesus! If you really have the compassion of the Holy Spirit, the love of God & the love of Christ in your heart, you're going to be like Jesus. And if you want to know what Jesus is like, just read the Gospels--they're beautiful! The Bible says Jesus went about everywhere doing good, striving to lead God's children back to the worship of the true Father, His little lambs back into the one & only true fold of the Great Shepherd & the way of simple truth & love & peace, the true Kingdom of God whose only laws are love. Study the Gospels & see how Jesus did things. Study the Master Teacher who only taught & lived love & sharing, Who came for love & lived in love & died for love, that we might live & love forever. This is why, for many, the Words of Jesus are the best loved part of the Bible. He was almost always the peacemaker. When they didn't like His message, He didn't force it on them. It was all voluntary, all "whosoever will." Jesus was patient, loving, kind, sympathetic & forgiving, always loving, always leading, not pushing or driving, & always feeding & encouraging & strengthening His little lambs. Lord, You are the greatest sample of all, the greatest of all samples of humility & mercy. Help us to be like You, Lord Jesus.
(Musical interlude)
To truly give is to give cheerfully. God likes people who are cheerful givers, who give voluntarily because it makes them happy & because they know it pleases the Lord & they're helping others, expecting nothing for themselves in return. That kind of giving, true giving, can be the greatest of all pleasures because as the purse is emptied, the heart is filled. But when we don't give willingly, we don't give cheerfully, then we're not really giving. Like the rich man who thought he was throwing a copper penny into the church offering bag, but suddenly noticed as it left his fingers that it was a gold sovereign. When he suddenly saw what he was losing, he tried to snatch it back! But the usher put his hand over the bag & said, "Oh, no! Sorry! Once in, forever in!"
So the rich man said, "Well, at least I'll get credit for the sovereign in Heaven."
"No you won't," said the usher, "you'll only get credit for the penny!"
The Lord loveth a cheerful giver. We must give willingly & in love if we want our giving to do any good & if we expect any credit for it from the Lord. Are you going to give cheerfully? Then you will get a lot of credit for it.
(Musical interlude)
Jesus is the Prince of Peace, only through Him can we have peace. Regardless of the strife-torn World & the confusion of this World, He says, "Thou shalt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusteth in Thee" & "perfect love casts out all fear." Even if there's war & turmoil & confusion & chaos on the outside, you can have peace on the inside, in your own heart through the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. To be reconciled with God means to make peace with God. And what is the only way you can make peace & be reconciled with God? There's only one way, & that's through Jesus. He's the One who made peace between us & the Father through His blood. God won't accept any other terms of peace, just the blood of Jesus. The only salvation is in Christ, the only peace is in the Prince of Peace, & the only truth is in the Word of God. Make sure that you are the Lord's & He'll give you peace of mind, satisfaction of heart, & love & happiness here & now, & Heaven too! Then you'll be ready for any calamity, knowing that no matter what happens, He'll take care of you.
(Musical interlude)
God is the only One Who can give real meaning to living. So many people today don't know what to believe, they don't know where they're from, who they are, where they're going. They're in absolute confusion because they lost touch with the only concrete frame of reference, & that's God & His explanation of life, the Bible. They've lost faith in God, so therefore they lose faith in love, & therefore they lose faith in life, they lose faith in people, they lose faith in everything! But we have found Love that lasts forever & a God that cannot fail, & we know Him "whom to know is life eternal." We're born again & now we have an utterly different outlook on life & a new way of looking at the World, thank God! And besides the wonderful happiness, life & love that living for Jesus gives us, we've also been given a real purpose in living & Someone to live for. We now like to face life & find a thrill in our newfound tasks, & the greatest of pleasure in the fellowship of our newfound Family, & the greatest of satisfactions in our newfound faith! In fact,
"Every day with Jesus,
Is better than the day before.
Every day with Jesus
We love Him more & more!"
He's wonderful! Ah, sweet mystery of life, at last I have found Thee! Now at last I know the meaning of it all!--It's Jesus!
(Musical interlude)
Have you asked Jesus into your heart? Have you been born again into the wonderful new World of love & freedom & happiness that we've been talking about on this tape? If not, all you have to do is invite Jesus, God's Son, into your heart. He'll give you peace of mind, love & happiness right now & forever. So why not try Him? Just say this short prayer with me:
Dear Jesus, please come into my heart. Forgive me for my sins. Please help me to love You, & to love others with Your love. In Jesus' name, amen.
Now can begin the most exciting time you have ever known in your life as you learn how the wonderful promises God has made to you in His Word can make you happy & fulfilled both now & in the future.
