PRAYER LIST 36 -- DO
August 1996
Copyright Sept. 1996, The Family, Zurich, Switzerland
"I love the Lord, because He hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live" (Psalm 116:1,2).
Please use this list along with PL 35, the latest long-term list. Thank you!
For 14 years and up. Can be read with JETTs, but not on their own. Selected prayer requests, answers to prayer and testimonies of answered prayer may be read to younger age groups as well, at parents and teachers' discretion.
Dearest Family,
God bless you! Thank you so much for your continued prayers for all those who appear on the Prayer List. Your prayers are certainly effective, as those who have been healed as a result can testify. If you have been healed or received answers to prayer after appearing on the Prayer List, please remember to testify of it, by sending in an "answered prayer" that we can publish in the next Prayer List. This will be a great encouragement to all those who have been praying for you, as we'll be able to praise the Lord with you. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so" (Psa.107:2). Thank you so much. We love you!
Love, Your WS Pubs Team
ANSWERED PRAYERS
Mama and Peter:
1. Peter: Has been free from heart pains for some time now. Praise the Lord, and thank you everyone for your prayers for our dear king.
Asia:
2. Charity (of James S.A.) (PL 29:292): No asthma for the last five months.
3. Hannah (PL 32:37): Stiff and aching joints have improved greatly.
4. Eva (7, of Tim and Tabitha): Healed of fluid behind the ear drums, which was causing hearing loss and ear infections. She previously had a tube in one ear, but this was recently removed and her hearing is now 100% back to normal!
5. Sara (12, of James and Ruth): Healed from a problem with warts.
6. David Red (PL 31:87): The pain at the base of his spine is gone.
North America:
7. Michael (12, of Josh and Hope) (PL 14:175): "Michael was originally on the prayer list about three years ago for his eyes. He had Bell's Palsy, which caused his right eye to be open all of the time for about two weeks. A short time after that, we found out he was legally blind in that eye (20/400) and had lost all of his color recognition. The optometrist said that the eye problem was not correctable, and all we could do was to simply protect the other eye. A year later, after being on the Prayer List, Michael was re-examined and the doctor said that he had regained part of his color vision and was shocked to find that Michael's eyes now registered 20/200!--A great improvement! A couple of weeks ago, we took Michael for another examination, and not only did he have perfect color recognition, but his bad eye now was 20/60! A complete miracle! We're so happy the Lord has seen fit to answer everyone's prayers and give Michael back his eyesight! Thank you so very much for praying for him!"
8. Marie-Anne (15, of Phoebe) (PL 12:154): Hardly any problem with asthma.
9. Rosie (6, of Pedro and Maria) (PL 30:142): "The Lord healed Rosie of a long-standing stomach problem, after we put her on the worldwide Prayer List. Also, the Lord healed my (Pedro's) back."
10. Heaven (of Timmy West) (PL 34:55): Her back is improving, and she has been able to obtain the services of a chiropractor for free.
11. Cephas (PL 30:124): "I've had two ruptured disks in my lower back for years, which cause almost constant pain. Several months ago my name appeared in the Prayer List (I don't know who sent me in) and since then, I've had almost no pain at all--pain-free for the first time in almost eight years! Thank You, sweet Jesus!"
12. David (of Hosy) (PL 32:47): His eyes are healed from glaucoma. (See testimony of answered prayer on page 10.) David's residency also came through.
13. Naarah (of Simon Black) (PL 29:92): "I'd like to thank each of you for your desperate, fervent prayers for me. My follow-up visit to the doctor concerning the cancerous cells found in my uterus showed that the operation was successful. The tests all came back negative! I thank God for this and continue to trust His miracle-working power. Other testimonies and answers to prayer are as follows: 1) I've been having less pain and trouble with pinched nerves; 2) the doctor who performed a minor operation on my feet offered to pay the $2,000 that our health insurance didn't cover, and 3) my asthma has been bothering me less, and I feel much better than before. Thank You Jesus. Thank you all for the verses, quotes, notes of encouragement and especially your love, concern, and prayers."
14. Matthew (15, of Promise) (PL 32:64): A severely-broken arm is now healed and back to full use!
15. Amanecer (17) (PL 31:145): Back is doing much better. Would appreciate continued prayers as she still has a pain in her neck.
South America:
16. Claire (PL30:206): Healed from excessive and prolonged menstrual bleeding.
17. Juan Disciple (PL 31:188): Healed from problems with excess wax in his ears.
Europe and Africa:
18. Greek John (TS) (PL 29:221): Acquitted in court! John faced a fine of $20,000 and up to one year in jail, in a case involving a former Family vehicle which was registered in his name. When John returned from the mission field several years ago, he was informed by the government that, unbeknownst to him, the vehicle had not been de-registered when it was scrapped. It was a technical oversight, but because of it, according to the law he could be held liable for many years of back road taxes. The Lord did incredible miracles with his court case! Since John's lawyer could not be present at the time the hearing was scheduled, he asked for a postponement, but it was denied. On the day John's case was brought to trial, the judge officiating happened to be a close family friend of John's--a real miracle, as the court cases are passed to the different judges at random, and among hundreds of cases, this judge got John's. After John told the court he had a big family and couldn't pay the debt, the prosecuting attorney stood up on John's behalf--for him instead of against him! Both the judge and the prosecuting attorney ruled in his favor--innocent! Praise the Lord!
19. Lily (PL 33:182): Healed of continual pain in her right knee.
20. Larissa (PL 31:244): Has not had any recurring fevers or severe headaches for three months.
21. Maria (of Gabe) (PL 30:269): "Thank you for praying against the recurring breast infections that I had when I started feeding my baby. Shortly after we sent in my prayer request, I was completely healed!"
22. Joanna (of John W.) (PL 30:266): Eczema healed.
23. Aaron (of Sharon) (PL 29:190): "A couple of months ago I had a problem with the cartilage in my knee, but thanks to your prayers and the Lord's mercy, it healed completely without the need of an operation. Now I can use it fully and am 'running, leaping and praising God!' Thank You Jesus!"
24. Elaine (of Ricky) (PL 30:264): "This has been the first month in almost a year that I haven't had a migraine headache--nothing short of a miracle as we've been so busy. Thank you so much for your prayers!"

NOTICES AND TESTIMONIES OF ANSWERED PRAYER!
Graduation Notices:
Joy (of Mark) (PL 32:21), North America: The Lord answered our prayers for sweet Joy's deliverance from cancer by taking her to be with Him! She left us at the end of July. The Lord has certainly delivered and healed her in the best way possible. Joy's graduation was peaceful, a wonderful time of praise for all, and her children had sufficient time to adjust well. Our prayers are with you, Mark, and all your children. (More details and testimonies will be published soon.)
Hope Geppetto (TS), North America: Dear Hope went to her Heavenly reward on July 24th after a long, well-fought battle with a cancerous brain tumor. Hope passed away peacefully in her sleep with three of her daughters holding her hands, praying and reading her favorite verses.
We would like to extend our love and prayers to the Geppetto family, Zeb, Hope's former husband, and their seven daughters. We know that losing a loved one is very difficult, but we pray that the healing balm of the Lord's great Love and comfort will fill your hearts and wash away any sadness. Thank the Lord that we can rejoice together in knowing that Hope is certainly in a better Place, happier than ever before and free of the burdens and constraints of this life.
Paloma (of Amos) (TS), Brazil: Paloma graduated in late July or early August, apparently in an auto accident. Thankfully, she passed away immediately and with little pain. Amos and Paloma established and for several years now have faithfully run a successful "consider the poor" ministry for homeless children in Brazil, God bless them. Despite suffering from chronic pain and severe headaches for the past eight years, Paloma selflessly sacrificed to minister to Brazil's homeless, bringing them physical assistance and, most importantly, Jesus and His Love. Please pray for dear Amos and their children, that the Lord will comfort them in their loss, with the sweet peace and reassurance of knowing that Paloma is safe in the Lord's precious arms!
Loving Jesus Brings Healing
From Praise, Taiwan:
Since moving to this part of the city, I'd been having asthma attacks quite frequently and would often stay up till four o'clock in the morning battling it. One night when I was battling with my breathing and feeling really discouraged and frustrated about it, the Lord reminded me of a quote in "Stop, Look, and Listen" where Dad said, "If you can't sleep, maybe the Lord wants you to pray."
So I started to pray for others and was also asking for His help to overcome this attack. Eventually I started praising Him and thanking Him for all He's done for me and for keeping me through so many attacks of the Enemy. I was telling Him how much I appreciate and love Him and really need Him. I started loving Him with the love words and pouring out my heart as I told Him how much I love Him. After a while, without realizing it, my breathing was back to normal and I was able to drift off to sleep!
With the next few attacks, I just started to praise the Lord and spend time loving Him instead of concentrating on my breathing, and the attacks would get less and less serious. Thank You Jesus! I learned that the Lord wants me to keep my eyes on Him instead of myself, and most of all He wants me to spend time with Him!
"Way-Out Ways to Praise"
From Sparrow, Thailand:
The "way-out ways to praise" are terrific and so liberating! One of the artists in our Home drew pictures of Jesus in all these different ways, i.e., "in the house", wild, magic, funny, etc. Then on our monthly Prayer Day, during prayer time with the teens and adults, in between songs, we went around the circle, each choosing a card with one of the pictures on it, and explained in what way Jesus had that particular characteristic for us. It was really fun, inspiring and different!
From Angela (of Stephen), Italy:
This month I was bedridden for almost two weeks with a strong backache (sciatica). It happened quite suddenly, and I still don't know what caused it. It was quite a humbling experience for me, as I'm quite confident and even proud of my physical health. The Lord has given me endurance and stamina, and I even enjoy "men's jobs" and some hardship.
Well, I was practically an invalid, and had to even be helped out (or better "pulled out") of bed to go to the bathroom for a few days. Then on top of this backache, one evening I began to feel an increasing pain in my ovary, where years ago a large cyst was removed. At the time, the doctors told me that it could form again in the future, and I believe that's what happened. After a sleepless night, I was considering going to the hospital nearby, but really didn't have the will or the faith for it!
Instead, in the midst of this almost unbearable pain, I had a vision of some hands gently laying on top of this orange, ball-sized cyst, and right then it exploded! So I asked for prayer, and a few people laid hands on the spot where it hurt, and within a few minutes the pain was gone and I could move my right leg again! Thank You Jesus!
This whole experience taught me a lot about praising Jesus no matter what, even accepting being weak as part of His plan, so that He can be strong, and depending on others to help me. I still have to move around slowly and remember not to lift anything heavy. I haven't yet regained my strength, but thank the Lord I'm doing much better.
I've also experienced being a single mom for a couple of months now, as Stephen was in Slovenia and Bosnia. I'm so thankful for all the help I received with my kids, and all the compassion I felt during these days of sickness. What a Family!
From David and Hosy, USA:
A few months ago we asked for prayer for David's eyes, as he had glaucoma, and when he was recently tested for it, it was gone! No glaucoma! There was another Christian couple in the doctor's office at the time. The wife also had glaucoma and they were very worried about it. When we told the husband that David had glaucoma, he said, "You're healed, aren't you?" We told him that David was, thanks to Jesus and prayer. Our testimony was just what this couple needed for their faith and encouragement.
From Ho, Marianne, Andrew and David, India:
In our last area Prayer List, our request was published asking the Lord to show us how to reach more people here in India. So it was an exciting answer to prayer when we received the two new GP tracts, "To You--With Love," and "The Prince and the Magical Power," which we can get out by the hundreds of thousands for the nearly one billion people in this country. Through feeding by mail the people who respond, we feel they can be a new harvest of catacombers, outside witnessers and disciples!
"They Shall Lay Hands on the Sick"
From Miriam, Fe and Alberto, Chile:
Two years ago, the owner of a large clothing factory donated to our work, but we later lost contact. Then recently we heard from a mutual friend that his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter was in critical condition in the hospital, as a result of being badly scalded by boiling water. This friend asked us to come to the intensive care unit to pray for the girl, as she was dying.
When we arrived, the parents were crying hopelessly, and all the relatives were mourning the imminent death of the child. They had just heard that a new bacteria had attacked and worsened her already weak condition.
Our friend asked everyone to pray with us, so everybody joined in the prayer, responding with "amens" as we petitioned the Lord for her healing and claimed promises from His Word. We then asked to go into the intensive care unit to lay hands on the child, but the doctor in charge wouldn't allow anyone but staff in there. The girl's mother told him that some missionaries had come to pray for the child and they needed to go in to do so. He relented and let Fe in. As Fe prayed for the girl, the doctor also laid hands on her and prayed along with Fe for her recovery.
Shortly thereafter, the family's private doctor went in to examine the girl, and came out with a shining face. She had taken a miraculous turn for the better, he explained. Three days later she was out of the intensive care unit and into a normal hospital room--totally out of danger! Thank You Jesus!
A Little Child Shall Lead Them
From Paulo and Cristina (TS), Brazil:
On one of our faith trips we met a lady who had cancer in her fallopian tubes. She received the Lord, and together with our six children we prayed for her healing. When we left her she told us that she was certain that the Lord had healed her. Two months later, the doctors operated on her but couldn't find anything wrong. They were still skeptical and asked her to continue a little more with chemotherapy, but she refused, knowing she was healed. Praise the Lord! The most beautiful thing is that it was our five-year-old who led the prayer for her healing.
From Dust, Paul and Diamond, Romania:
A friend of ours got saved and started reading the Daily Foods. One day she told us that because of some health problems, she had to go to the hospital for some time. We didn't know what the problem was, but we decided to visit her in the hospital with the singing group. When she saw us she was very touched and hugged us with tears in her eyes. After we got permission from the nurse in charge, we sang for her and the other ladies on the floor, who were very thankful for the encouragement we gave them through our songs.
She told us that she might have cancer and we promised to pray for her. She was quite discouraged because some of her close relatives had died from the same problem, having been affected by the 1986 Chernobyl accident. The next day we prayed for her healing, and asked the Lord to heal her in such a way that it would be a testimony to others. A few days later she phoned and happily she told us that the tests were negative. She'd had a dream that a white dove flew into her room and she knew it was our prayers. She gave God the glory for her healing and invited us to her house for dinner, where her daughter got saved and her husband got a good witness too.
